Morelia Michoacán, May 6, 2025.- More than 160 brigades currently serve three fires that are registered in the municipalities of Cotija, Maravatío and Tuxpan, the Forest Commission of Michoacán (COFOM) reported.
Brigadistas of the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), COFOM, Civil Protection and volunteers are maintained in areas where they carry out control actions.
The appropriate works have allowed five fires to extinguish in the last hours in the municipalities of Senguio, Morelia, Nahuatzen, Uruapan and Paracho.
So far 532 fires have been treated during this season, which have left effects, mainly in low areas, areas with bushes, herbs and horajasca.
The COFOM urges ejidos owners to adhere to NOM-015 of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) for the responsible use of fire in agricultural practices.
In addition, the emergency number 911 is reiterated to report properly forest fires.
