Fishermen recorded Whale Sardinera in La Guaira and cause furor in social networks

An unusual marine sighting became a trend in social networks this May 3, after a video was spread in which a sardinera whale is partially observed – also known as Bryde or Rorcual tropical whale— swimming near the coast of the La Guaira .

In the audiovisual material, published on April 30 on the Instagram @xfisherman79, the voice of one of those present in the boat shouting is heard “Whale in front!”. Seconds later, the crew observes in amazement how cetacean briefly emerges, allowing to see their dorsal fin and part of their body.

In another video broadcast on the same account, one of the fishermen comments to have been surprised by the powerful water jet that the whale for its spiracle. Which generated a moment of scare and emotion among those present.

The sighted species, the Balaenoptera Edeni, is a large whale that lives in warm and temperate waters. It can reach up to 15 meters in length and an estimated weight of 17 tons. It is considered the largest animal on the planet, only surpassed by the blue whale.

The sighting of these mammals in Venezuelan waters is not common. Which makes these types of meetings generate great interest in both marina biodiversity experts and in the general public.
