EVENTS.- Five officials assigned to National Land Institute (INTI), were deprived of liberty this Wednesday May 7, after being presented before the Fourth Control Court based in the city of Cabimas Zulia state.
The five officials were arrested last Sunday, May 5, allegedly for crimes of extortion, bribery, forge of public documents and crouching.
The apprehensions were carried out within the framework of an exhaustive process of Internal purification designed to eradicate illegal practices within the body in charge of land administration in the agricultural sector.
The authorities identified officials as Vicente Montiel (analyst), Johiana Chourio (Technical Campo Engineer), Josefina Olivares (substantial lawyer), Alexis González (head of the agrarian legal area Ort Zulia) and Omar López (Regional Coordinator of Land Ort Inti Zulia).
-This action represents an advance in the Venezuelan State strategy to clean up public management in the agricultural field, particularly regarding land distribution and regularization.
In that sense, The authorities have emphasized that this operation is a direct response to previous complaints and investigations which revealed alleged irregularities in the allocation of land and the processing of administrative files.
The process has the full support of the Public Ministry, in order to guarantee a land administration based on ethics and legality, in accordance with the commitments assumed by the Venezuelan State institutions regarding control, supervision and fight against corruption.
