Within the framework of the celebrations in Moscow for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over fascism in World War II, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, met with his counterpart from Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré. This meeting aims to strengthen South-South cooperation between both nations.
during the meeting, both leaders emphasized the need to establish relations based on respect for international law and non -intervention in the internal affairs of each country. President Maduro stressed that Burkina Faso has become a key partner in the fight against unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against Venezuela. This collaboration is presented as an answer to the global challenges that both countries face.
To date, Venezuela and Burkina Faso have managed to forge a total of 27 agreements in various areas, including politics, science, internal security, agriculture, civil protection and education. These agreements reflect a mutual commitment to develop bilateral relations that benefit both peoples.
In addition, during the meeting, the negotiation of 14 new projects of agreement that seeks to expand cooperation ties in strategic sectors such as energy and mining was discussed. The intention is not only to strengthen economic ties, but also to promote cultural and scientific exchange between both nations.
This type of meetings highlights the importance of joint work between countries in the Global South to face common challenges and promote sustainable and inclusive development. The collaboration between Venezuela and Burkina Faso could be an inspiring model for other nations that seek to build solidarity relations based on mutual respect and effective cooperation.
