Demand in public health grows
María Valeria Anchorena, head of the Pharmacy and Sterilization Service of the Córdoba Hospital, warned in dialogue with the voice that the growth of patients without social work or with limited coverage increased the pressure on the health system.
“This directly impacts the dispensation of medicines, since many arrive at the hospital for lack of access to treatments in the private sector,” he explained.
The specialist stressed that, given the rise in prices, hospitals face difficulties to guarantee timely delivery of drugs. “For example, an excessive increase can delay the dispensation, since it activates alerts in the purchase processes,” he said. In addition, he said that the reference values are based on the Kairos system, used for institutional contributions.
The situation reflects a vicious circle: more patients without coverage saturate hospital pharmacies, while price increases complicate the replacement of stocks. “The challenge is to ensure access to those who need it most,” Anchorena said.
