The association of Resident Physicians of the Social Security Institute (IPS) confirmed the death of a young resident of the third year of images. Professionals ensure that deaths occur within the framework of a very demanding residence system, where extreme exhaustion and lack of protection towards new doctors are produced.
According to the statement issued by the Association, the death of Dr. Kevin Chen was reported and adds to the long list of professionals who departed in their eagerness to achieve specialization. His companions denounce that the conditions are inhuman in which there are strenuous days and without emotional support for resident doctors.
“The IPS resident doctors association laments the death of Dr. Kevin Chen, a resident of the third year of images of the Central Hospital. We express our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the doctor. His departure leaves a great void in our medical community of residents and for the whole society,” they said.
The psychologist Jessica Ferreira, who was a teacher of the deceased doctor, lamented the death of the professional and indicated that it is time for change, of better working conditions, with a more human and quality training. They demand that resident doctors have a health assistance as the Paraguayan deserves and to be of quality.
“Sorry for being part of a system that is so difficult to change. Forgiveness because what we do is not enough, we do not have the resources, we have no power, we have no political influences and we have no money. All we have is the disposition and the heart to do our work well. But that is not enough,” he said in his social networks.
