The rumor came from Europe: Williams would analyze a change in its driver line-up. The targeted one, of course, is Logan Sargeant. The American’s continuity in the Grove team after his weak 2023 (he scored just one of the team’s 28 points) was in doubt until last December, when it was finally announced that he would continue as Alex Albon’s teammate in 2024. However, the Floridian’s weak start in the current World Cup exercise, with the serious accident in Japan included, plus the mistake in China in which he went backwards, seem to have been too much for the structure’s leaders. And the rumor exploded in Europe: after the Miami GP, Sargeant would be removed and his place would be taken by Kimi Antonelli, the 17-year-old Italian who belongs to Mercedes (Williams’ engine supplier) and who currently races in Formula 2.

cAny indoor movement by Williams puts Argentine fans on alert. Franco Colapinto is part of the talent development program of the English team and he had the pleasure of getting into the W45 (the 2023 model) in the rookie test that F1 held in Abu Dhabi in December. In an exclusive conversation with ESPN.com, the Argentine pilot spoke about the American’s situation.

“Logan had a somewhat complicated start to the season and the team may be looking for an alternative. The truth is that I don’t know in detail how that comes about. Obviously, leaving mid-season is not a nice thing for any driver. It would be nice if they gave him a chance, but obviously he is not having a good season and motorsport is based on results, based on performance. If you have not been performing well for two years, it is normal for the team to start looking for a different avenue, some other opportunity. I don’t know how it’s going to happen, what the decisions are, there are many rumors.

-And you? Because the rumor puts Antonelli, but you are part of the Williams program.

-I would love to, but I am very focused on Formula 2. I am not thinking about Formula 1 and the truth is I think I have other things to do before that. I want to have a good performance in Formula 2 because I have a car to be ahead. I’m going to work to do well in Formula 2 and then, obviously, we’ll see what happens later. But for my part, I am very focused on formula12, on doing a good job there, which is what I have to do because it is my job this year. And well, the rest will obviously come in addition. And if you have a good result in Formula 2, doors always open higher up for you, so that is the goal. I hope I have a chance, but I’m not very focused on the Formula 1 issue for now.
