Agustín Almendra found his place in the world in Racing. In addition to having fulfilled the dream of wearing the shirt of the club of which he is a fan, he established himself as a starter and maintains a performance that transformed him into a key piece within the team. After the 2-1 victory over Coquimbo Unidos in Chile, for the third date of Group H of the Copa Sudamericana, the midfielder spoke with the club’s official site.
“The team is very good. Both those who always start and those who come in do a good job. It is a very hard-working, humble group. Luckily we all get along well,” valued the Academy flyer. Prior to his arrival at the Academy, Almendra had experienced a conflict with Sebastián Bataglia (former coach of Boca), he was deleted and was lowered to the Reserve. He didn’t play for a long time until he was free, and Fernando Gago asked him for Racing.
In 2023 he lacked continuity due to some physical problems and could not assert himself, but the last preseason allowed him to improve significantly physically. And thanks to this, he added greater deployment to his well-known technical wealth, even for recovery despite being a football generation midfielder.
“I am very happy in Racing. The group treats me very well, luckily now I was able to add more minutes than last year. The truth is, I am very happy for the moment we are going through,” said Almendra, 24 years old, sitting in one of the Cilindro seats. They make Agustín feel important in Racing. He became an undisputed starter, with a lot of filming and the pleasure of defending a very representative jacket for him. “For me it is something special. Everyone knows that I am a fan of this club – he stressed – and I have my family from Racing too. People treat me very well. I enjoy it to the fullest, I am very happy here.”
Almendra achieved much-needed continuity.
Almendra is a good partner for Juanfer Quintero in game development. The two of them are the most thoughtful players on the team, due to their outlook, good passing and pausing. Since his arrival at the club, the former Boca has already scored five assists, which reflects his good outlook and precision. The last one was for Santiago Solari, in the first goal of the 2-1 victory over Coquimbo.
