SAN DIEGO — Kyle Schwarber homered on Joe Musgrove’s fourth pitch and Bryce Harper also hit one of the Philadelphia Phillies’ five homers in Friday’s 9-3 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Musgrove (3-3) allowed a career-high four runs and failed to make it through the fourth inning.

Aaron Nola (4-1) had a brilliant performance pitching eight innings for the second straight start. He struck out 10 batters for the first time this season and for the 31st time in his career, while he limited San Diego to three runs and seven hits, with one walk. His only major mistake was allowing a two-run homer to rookie Graham Pauley in the seventh inning.

There was a scary moment in the second stretch when Harper and Jurickson Profar were shaken after an attempt to surprise the runner at first. Nola jumped off the mound to try to throw out Profar who was threatening to go towards second base, he threw to Harper who tagged Profar. Harper spun from the impact and fell to the ground, then jogged across the grass holding his lower back. Both players were checked by coaches and continued in the game.

Schwarber’s homer was his 100th in a Phillies uniform and he became the second-fastest player to reach this mark with the franchise in 342 games. Ryan Howard did it at 325.

For the Phillies, Dominican Johna Rojas is 4-1.

For the Padres, Dominican Fernando Tatis Jr. 3-0. Venezuelan José Azocar 3-1 with one scored.
