The overwhelming dominance that he had shown throughout the entire Moto3 Spanish GP weekend put David Alonso as the clear favorite to win the fourth round of the World Championship. The Colombian had dominated every outing on the Jerez de la Frontera track, but, already in the race, Things got complicated from the start.

At the start, Alonso lost the lead with the Spaniard David Muñoz, who pushed him hard to be able to overtake him. The Colombian took a deep breath and when half of the circuit was completed, he managed to regain the top with a great improvement. He already had the opportunity to apply his bestial rhythm and escape, but… he went to the ground!

Just as I was about to close the initial turn, The CFMoto of the Apar team made a nasty accident entering the main straight, the front cover closed and it ended up on the ground. The skid took him to the gravel, leaving a trail of sparks on the asphalt. Alonso lifted his motorcycle and was able to continue in the race.

The Colombian was last and alone on the track. From there, he began to set laps in top times and moved forward. Finally, managed to climb to 11th place. The last step he climbed was due to the fall of Joel Esteban, his teammate on the Aspar team, who took the last corner of the closing turn. Incredible, the team suffered crashes from its drivers in the same place at the beginning and in the epilogue.

The Spanish GP will leave two sensations for Alonso. On the one hand, he lost the chance to win a victory that he felt close to after dominating the first two days of activity and reach the top of the World Cup. The glass full is that he could have left empty-handed, but, thanks to his comeback to 11th place, he managed to score points and only lost four to Daniel Holgado, seventh in Jerez: now the light is six in favor of the Spaniard.

Without Alonso ahead, The Dutchman Collin Veijer took the little gift and took the victory on the Andalusian track.
