For the first time in history, the duel between Mixco and Municipal is recorded to fight for the title
GUATEMALA — Officially, the National Soccer League confirmed this Monday the times and venues for the duels of the final of the 2024 Clausura Tournament, where Municipal and Mixco will define the new champion of Guatemalan soccer after the elimination of Comunicaciones in the semifinals.
For the second consecutive tournament, the final matches will be played on the weekend and there will be no activity between Wednesdays or Thursdays, since this is cataloged in the Competition Regulations.
Due to the position in the table, Municipal will have the advantage of locking the key at home, while Mixco will play the first leg at home, since Neto Bran, president of the club confirmed that it will expand the capacity to around 10 thousand people.
This is the first final for Deportivo Mixco in its history, while Municipal returns to a final two years after the one played in the Clausura 2022 against Comunicaciones. The last time the Reds were champions was in the 2019 Apertura Tournament, so four and a half years later, they will seek to repeat the feat in front of their fans at the ‘El Trébol’ stadium.
Curiously, Sebastián Bini was the last coach who gave the 31st title to Municipal against Antigua GFC at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium. From that final, the only players who survive on the squad are: Rudy Barrientos, John Méndez and Kenderson Navarro.

Deportivo Mixco vs CSD Municipal: Saturday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Santo Domingo de Guzmán Stadium.

CSD Municipal vs Deportivo Mixco: Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Manuel Felipe Carrera ‘El Trébol’ Stadium.
Municipal will seek the 32nd cup in history to equal Comunicaciones, while Mixco will seek its first crown in the senior category of Guatemalan football.
