The Argentine Football Association (AFA) reported that the wake of César Luis Menotti, who died on Sunday at the age of 85, will be held this Tuesday at the property that the entity has in the Buenos Aires city of Ezeiza.
The funeral will take place in the futsal micro-stadium of the Lionel Messi property and can be attended exclusively by family, friends and prominent football personalities. The hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The AFA ordered that the ceremony not be open to the media.
Menotti, born in Rosario and who led the Argentine team to the world title in 1978, died shortly before the final of the Professional League Cup between Estudiantes de La Plata and Vélez Sarsfield in Santiago del Estero.

Menotti had spent ten days hospitalized at the beginning of April at the Agote Sanatorium in the Recoleta neighborhood, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. He had been diagnosed with severe anemia. After being discharged, he had returned to his house with his family.
“Menotti died of stomach cancer. He had metastases throughout his body. When he was discharged a couple of weeks ago, he was already in palliative care. “Yesterday he was admitted again to the Agote and died today,” wrote journalist Diego Borinsky, who was very close to “Flaco.”
