Daniil Medvedev (4th in the world ranking) is still preparing to compete Roland Garros, second Grand Slam of the season. In the first round, the former world number one will face the German Dominik Koepfer (67th). In the prelude to the start of the majorthe Russian spoke to the press and left several titles.

In the last few hours, the news went viral that Rafael Nadal he trained with Medvedev and that the Spaniard won the set they had played. “It’s difficult. In training yesterday we weren’t laughing because Rafa, I don’t want to say that he is the hardest working tennis player of all time, but I do want to say that he is a very hard worker. Honestly he played well. We didn’t play five sets, but he played well, better than in Rome or Madrid. I didn’t feel like I was wrong. We played a set and some more and he beat me“.

“It will be interesting for me to see how he plays against Zverev because Rafa will always be Rafa. He won here 14 times and until he plays and maybe even if he is not the favorite, you can perfectly win“he added.

Then he continued: “It would be hard to play in the first round against someone who won 14 titles here. Training and playing a match is different. I’m going to be there watching the game and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m happy not to be the one playing with him in the first round.“.

Finally, he referred to his next rival: “Koepfer is tough. We played three times, all in Grand Slam, except one in Miami this year. He is a difficult opponent, so it will be a good test. At Roland Garros I do get past the first round “I’m starting to play well and I can get good results. So it’s a great motivation to move forward.”

His best performance in Paris was the quarterfinals in 2021. It is the only major tournament in which he was never able to reach the semifinals. Will it be your year?
