Duran and Ceddanne Rafaela each had four hits for Boston. The Red Sox accumulated 24 hits, their most this year. Duran started the blowout with his third career home run leading off a game.
Valdez disappeared with two on board against White Sox starter Jake Woodford (0-2) in the fourth. Pinch-hitter Jamie Westbrook hit his first career home run in the seventh.
Houck (6-5) allowed two runs and three hits, with nine strikeouts and zero walks.
