Juan Soto returns to Yankees lineup as DH

Juan Soto missed the weekend series against the Dodgers due to inflammation in his left forearm, but is ready to hit again.

Juan Soto will return to the New York Yankees’ lineup this Monday night, as a Designated Hitter against the host Kansas City Royals, manager said Aaron Boone.

Soto missed this weekend’s series against the Dodgers due to inflammation in his left forearm.

Boone also said that Aaron Judge, who earlier Monday was named American League Player of the Week, would miss the series opener against the Royals because of a scheduled day off.

Soto exited the game Thursday, an 8-5 win over the Minnesota Twins, due to forearm soreness that he later said had been bothering him for at least a week. An MRI revealed only swelling in the forearm and ruled out problems in the elbow.

Soto is hitting .318 with 17 home runs, 53 RBIs and a 1.027 OPS. The 25-year-old outfielder, acquired in December from San Diego, can become a free agent after the World Series.
