KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Nick Gordon’s infield hit capped a two-out rally by the Miami Marlins to beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on Tuesday.

After getting just two singles during six scoreless innings against Seth Lugo, the Marlins had four hits in the seventh, in which they scored twice with a couple of outs against two relievers, Venezuelan Carlos Hernández (0-1) and Will Smith .

Dominican Otto López hit a double and scored the tying run on a hit by Gordon, with two outs. Gordon later scored on Jaz Chisholm’s infield hit and Smith’s error on a throw.

López had two hits and contributed four of the Marlins’ 11 hits in the series.

AJ Puk (2-8) struck out a pair and got four outs for the win. Tanner Scott made his 10th save for Miami, which has won five of its last seven games.

For the Marlins, the Dominicans Bryan de la Cruz 4-0, Jesús Sánchez 4-0, López 4-2 with one run scored. Venezuelan Alí Sánchez 3-1.

For the Royals, Venezuelans Maikel García 2-0 with one scored, Salvador Pérez 4-1. Puerto Rican MJ Meléndez 1-0.
