The Colombian suffered two falls during the first free practice of the Dutch GP, the eighth round of the World Championship. Collin Veijer was the fastest.

Bucking on his Aspar Team motorcycle, about to be ejected. This is how David Alonso closed the first practice of the Netherlands GP, the eighth round of the Moto3 World Championship. The members of the team opened their eyes wide as they watched the images of their driver trying to reach the end of the lap. That image is the complete summary of a very complex round for the Colombian.

With 25 minutes to go in the session, Alonso was riding alone through Assen Cathedral when the front wheel of his bike suddenly closed and all that followed was a visit to the flat. The man from Madrid ran straight to pick up his machine and continue.

He returned to the pits, analyzed some data, spoke with the team members and went out on track again in search of revenge. But… On the floor again! The second crash was with seven minutes left until the checkered flag. The image repeated itself, he ran to his motorcycle, picked it up and continued. This time, without going through the pits, he ended up closing the final turn, on his rearing machine, to finish ninth, 645 thousandths behind the Dutchman Collin Veijer, the fastest of the batch.

Alonso arrived in the Netherlands at the top of the World Cup, 37 points ahead of Daniel Holgado. And the Spaniard did not have a better time on the first day of Assen, because he also visited the apartment. This Saturday the second session and classification will be held.
