A 12-year-old boy died this Thursday in the neighboring town of Arroyo Seco. He suffered a decompensation while he was at his soccer practice at the Unión club, which remains closed for mourning over the weekend.

Police sources reported that police officers were informed at 6:45 p.m. that a minor at the Unión club facilities had become unwell during a soccer practice. He was taken along with a teacher to the local Samco 50 hospital, where attempts were made to revive him.

Unfortunately, the child, named Lautaro Maffini, died of cardiac arrest.

From the institution they shared a message on social networks. “We want to send our condolences and support to the family and friends of Lautaro Maffini, an athlete from our institution who, unfortunately, passed away today. The club will be closed for mourning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”
