Leylah Fernandez reached her sixth career final by eliminating the reigning Eastbourne champion, American Madison Keys, who will face Russian Daria Kasatkina, runner-up last year.
The Canadian won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. She prevented a repeat of the 2023 final, when Keys won the title by beating Kasatkina. The Russian will not miss the event and for the second year in a row will try to win in Eastbourne after beating the Italian Jasmine Paolini, third seed, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Leylah won for the first time against the American, with whom she fell in Roland Garros 2021 in the only duel between the two. It took him two hours and six minutes to get through the match and reach the sixth final of his career, the first on grass and the first in a 500 category event or higher since the 2021 US Open.
