There is nothing to stop it. Max Verstappenfrom Red Bull, took pole position in the Formula 1 Austrian GP this Saturday without any problems.
The Dutch driver swept ‘the home’ of his team, beating his main rival of this day by more than four hundredths – the largest of the season in a qualy – Lando Norris, McLaren.
Norris’s partner, Oscar Piastrihad the third best time in Q3 but his main mark was eliminated for exceeding the track limits more than permitted, dropping him to seventh place.
Thus, on the second row on Sunday, George Russell of Mercedes and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari will start.
Lewis Hamilton will start fifth, Charles Leclerc sixth and Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez will start from eighth position.
The big disappointment in Austria was the Spanish Fernando Alonso, from Aston Martin, who could not pass Q2 and had to settle for starting fifteenth.
Kick Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu will be the last to start from 20th.
