The Brazilian team beat Paraguay 4-1, this Friday, June 28, in a match on date 2 of group D of the Copa América 2024. This result brings it closer to qualifying for the quarterfinals, but it will have to play a crucial match against Colombia on Tuesday, July 2, in which first place in the group will be disputed.

Thus, Dorival Júnior, coach of the Brazilian national team, went ahead to analyze his next rival. Regarding Colombia, he warned that “it has caught the attention of the continent” and “it has been growing in a fearsome way.”

“They have shown important results” and “they have great players,” said the Brazilian coach about the Colombian team, which leads Group D with 6 points, after beating Paraguay (2-1) and Costa Rica (3-0).

Dorival also highlighted the “great” evolution of Colombia, led by Argentine Néstor Lorenzo, who in his opinion “has been growing in a fearsome way” and has already accumulated a streak of 25 games without losing.

“Brazil will play a very high level match and better than these two starters, playing with more ownership,” he promised.

Asked about the competition’s big favourites, he pointed to Argentina, a team that deserves “a lot of respect and attention”; Colombia and Uruguay, with “very strong” work at the grassroots level that has been renewed for some years.

In his opinion, “it is a reality” that Brazil is not currently the favorite of the tournament, which is being held in the United States until July 14, but that it will be in the future when the new generation accumulates experience.
