England captain admits they will need a strong performance against Slovenia to prove their team’s ability after criticism of inconsistency

Harry Kanecaptain of Englandsaid at a press conference on Saturday that his team, criticized at the Euro Cup for an irregular first phase, has to talk less “and show what it can do” against Slovakia in the round of 16 of the tournament.

The Bayern Munich striker declared that his team is facing the moment of truth to fulfill the objective of going far in the Euro Cup and to silence the criticism it has received after three duels (Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia) in which the good play was conspicuous by its absence.

“Now we are already in the knockout matches. These tournaments end quickly. We are going to need a great performance against Slovenia “We have to keep going. Now we have to talk less and show what we can do. We are looking for that spark that we need. It is not easy to beat these teams. We have to score tomorrow and be a little more accurate in the final third,” he said.

For Kane, Slovakia will give “the best of itself” and does not know if it will behave like a team that presses or waits behind, although it assured that it knows all the threats of its rival. “Now, being eliminatory, the pressure is even greater,” she highlighted.

“I think 99 percent of the (English) fans are behind the team and the coach. Both players and coaches are going to listen to the opinions of the fans. That is also playing for England“, he assured.

“The atmosphere I’ve experienced is one of the best in the national team. We are a strong group. Not just the players, but also the rest of the staff. We know it’s going to be a very tough journey from here to the final,” he added.

Finally, he spoke about his physical condition and stated that during a tournament like the Euro Cup there is a process in which after each game he becomes physically stronger. For Kane, all England players are at their strongest physically when the qualifiers arrive. “And I, as a striker, want to score goals, but if I don’t score and we manage to pass, I’m not going to complain,” he concluded.
