The debut of the Chilean National Team is just around the corner and, next Friday, June 21, La Roja will take the field in Arlington, Texas to face its counterpart from Peru for the first day of Group A of the Copa América in the United States 2024.
The first match will be vital for Ricardo Gareca and his teamsince on the second day they will have to face none other than Argentina and will close everything against the surprising Canada in Florida.
About the debut, Rodrigo Herrera chatted with Bolavip Chile and put maximum pressure on La Roja: “From what I have seen, from Peru’s last friendlies, they are having problems. He has a coach who is landing, he has serious scoring problems. Peru reminds me of that time of Lasarte where they generated football, but they couldn’t achieve it,” he said.
It is precisely this argument that excites Herrera that Chile will be a big favorite in Friday’s duel against the Peruvians, saying that “There I nourish my hope that Chile is a favorite, because it has been evolving. Peru, on the other hand, has been regressing.”
To put even more pressure on the debut, Herrera states that it is an obligation to win a new version of the Pacific Classic, this time to be played in the United States: “He has the historical obligation to be a favorite and win on Friday”, he concluded.
