Samsung is preparing the launch of the successor to its Galaxy Watch Series 6. However, the new Watch 7 series might not be the only novelty in smartwatches, as there have been a good number of rumors about the company’s launch of a affordable wearable called Galaxy Watch FE.

The recent leak, which coincidentally comes from Samsung itself, has somewhat confirmed these reports. A support page for an unreleased Galaxy Watch with model number RM-R861 has been launched on the company’s Latin American and UK websites. This is the same model that had previously been seen at FCC and TRDA.

Interestingly, this model number matches the Watch Series 4 smartwatches that ended in R860. This has caused many to speculate that it could be called the Galaxy Watch 4 (2024). Yes, it seems a little strange to launch a new product that will belong to a series from three years ago, but for Samsung it is not unusual.

For example, the company first launched the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in 2020, then launched a refreshed model with the same name in 2022, and then again in 2024 (it currently costs $249.99 on Amazon). But if Samsung doesn’t go down this route, it could possibly be called the Galaxy Watch FE, as a couple of rumors already suggest.

However, since the model number matches the wearables series from three years ago, it could possibly be a rebranded Galaxy Watch 4 but with the latest Wear OS. Hopefully, we’ll get proper details on this alleged affordable smartwatch before the upcoming Unpacked event, expected on July 10.
