Nvidia has introduced G-Assista new chatbot powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and RTX technology what will offer assistance to users during their video game games on PC and will help optimize the computer.
The American technology company has announced its latest developments within the framework of the annual computer fair Computex 2024which is held in Taipei (Taiwan) and will officially open its doors from Tuesday, June 4 to Friday, June 7.
Specifically, Nvidia has presented G-Assistan assistant powered by AI and RTX technology that offers contextual help for PC games and applications. For example, configuring optimal settings on the computer to facilitate gameplay, simply by requesting it through text input in a chatbot format.
As detailed, this initiative aims to provide solutions to those players who “spend hours searching for help on the Internet to learn and master their favorite titles.” Thus, the assistant aims to “put knowledge of the game and the system within the reach of players.”
With all this, users will only have to ask any question about the video game or the performance of the system for G-Assistant to provide information about it. Additionally, the chatbot will also be able to make settings to manage PC power usage, latency, and other hardware statistics.
As the technology company explained, G-Assist operates by taking voice or text input from the player, along with a screenshot of what’s in the game window. After that, the AI analyzes the screenshot and provides results with context and specific information. Additionally, the large language model (LLM) that powers the chatbot will be connected to a database of game knowledge. As Nvidia has pointed out, this database would act as “like a wiki”.
The company has specified that developers will also be able to customize G-Assist’s vision and language models to focus on a specific game or application. This way, players will be able to obtain more specific information that best suits their needs. These custom AI models will be able to run from the cloud or locally using PCs and laptops with GeForce RTX AI.
As Nvidia has shared through a joint demonstration with Studio Wildcard and its open-world video game with dinosaurs, ARK: Survival Ascendedthe G-Assist chatbot is capable of Help players by answering their questions about the game’s quests, items, and storyas well as which bosses are difficult to face.
The wizard also provides information on what is the best weapon to start playing or where you can find the materials necessary to make said tool. Following this line, thanks to its analysis of the image on the screen with AI, G-Assistant can understand what is happening in the game and, for example, suggest to the user whether to avoid confrontation with the enemy on the screen.
Likewise, if the user wants more information about a chatbot response, they can expand the data by clicking on the contextual links offered by the assistant.
Regarding assistance to improve system performance, Nvidia has shown an example with the video game Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, running on a PC with GeForce RTX. In this case, it has noted that users can request that G-Assist evaluate the configuration and performance of their system and instantly adjust it for an optimal experience.
Likewise, other more specific options can also be configured through the chatbot, such as Nvidia Reflex technology, to reduce system latency and achieve more responsive games.
Besides, The AI assistant can also graph frame rates, power usage, PC latency, and other statistics, suggesting ways to improve them. Likewise, it can scan the system to offer options to make the most of the screen resolution, refresh rate, and other capabilities like HDR.
