Netflix is testing a big home page redesign in its TV app

Netflix is planning a significant redesign of its television interface to improve the user experience. In this new design, it will no longer be necessary to scroll to the top of the screen to see the trailer of a series or movie. Now, when you place the cursor over a title, a box will expand showing a brief preview of the content in the same space. Below this box, relevant information such as the synopsis, year of release, number of episodes and genre will appear, thus avoiding the need to jump between different menus.

Additionally, Netflix has redesigned its navigation menu. The traditional sidebar will be replaced by a more agile selection of options located at the top of the screen, which will include Search, Home, Series, Movies and My Netflix. The My Netflix tab, known from the mobile application, will offer personalized recommendations and quick access to recently watched or saved titles. This tab will be easily accessible with the back button on the remote control, without needing to scroll to the top of the screen.

Although the sidebar disappears, some functions will remain. The categories will be available in the search tab and My List will be found within My Netflix. This redesign is the first step towards a more fluid and intuitive experience, especially with the arrival of new types of content such as live sporting events and wrestling shows.

Netflix will test this new interface with a small group of users of smart TVs and other streaming devices. If the test is successful, it is planned to expand it to more subscribers in the coming months.
