MADRID, June 10 (Portaltic/EP) –

WhatsApp will check the age of users from your messaging service with a novelty that you are currently preparing and with which you will request that you enter your full date of birth.

The messaging service will ask users for your date of birtha piece of information that they must enter in full, that is, with day, month and year, so that the platform can determine how old they are and verify if they meet the minimum age of use.

This change initially responds to recent legislation in some states in the United States, which requires digital services to verify the age of their users, as explained on the specialized portal Wabetainfo.

Information about date of birth can only be entered once, without the possibility of modifying it later. AND will not be shown to other people on the platform, as the company informs in the verification window.

This novelty, which according to the aforementioned portal will be enabled in certain countries, will arrive with a future update.

In April, Meta shared a similar feature for the Quest virtual reality ecosystem, in which it requested the date of birth of users with the aim, in this case, of adjust the type of account and settings at her age and prevent her from being blocked.
