Samsung doesn’t stop adding hardware and software features to its flagships every year, and next year, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could have technology similar to Apple’s Face ID. This is a new way to unlock our phone safely.

Face ID but with fewer sensors could reach the Galaxy S26 Ultra

The rumor comes from Twitter, there, the insider Sawyer Galox has refuted a recent claim that the upcoming S25 Ultra will feature facial recognition equivalent to Apple’s FaceID, but without requiring all the extra sensors.

This would thus allow for Samsung’s typical perforated front camera arrangement. Instead, Sawyer Galox stated that the feature will debut with the S26 Ultra. According to previous information, Samsung’s alternative will be called PolarID, and apparently it will be even more secure than FaceID without requiring any auxiliary sensor apart from the front camera.

This feature will not arrive with next year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, surely due to cost issues. In its place it will arrive with the S26 Ultra, most likely scheduled for 2027. But this is still too long away.

We don’t have much more information, and things could change between now and 2027. What it does seem is that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could take inspiration from Face ID.
