The best and most entertaining way to take advantage of the extra space on your iPhone is emulators

Perhaps the most common thing is to have a lack of space on the iPhone, although there are also those of us who are lucky enough to have lots of extra storage without knowing what to spend it on. We can simply do nothing. At the end of the day, nothing will happen and it is always good to have it for unforeseen events.

However, a few months ago I have found in emulators an excellent way to invest excess space. Yes, in game console emulators for iPhone, those that were prohibited by Apple for years and finally ended up allowing them a few months ago. And not only in alternative stores for iOS in Europe, but also in the App Store. And here I leave you the ones that, for me, are best.

Delta, the undisputed king and available to everyone

When it comes to emulating retro Nintendo game consoles, I must definitely talk about the Delta emulator. In it we find the possibility of emulating MES, Super NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Ideal for classic games from the Japanese developer.

This open source emulator doesn’t take up much space on its own, although the games do. It’s not outrageous, but it is something to keep in mind. It allows you to store games in the cloud with iCloud in any case, so it could be ideal even if you have little free space on the iPhone’s internal storage.

Delta can be downloaded in the European Union through the AltStore, which was the first unofficial alternative store for iPhone and also when Apple began to allow them on our continent. However, if you live outside Europe you will have it even easier because in the rest of the territories it is available for free in the App Store.

RetroArch, the classic that is already essential on iOS

If you are an emulation lover, you probably know more than enough about RetroArch. Not in vain is it one of the most well-known and long-lived open source emulators. It was launched almost 15 years ago and has been available on macOS, Linux, Windows or Android. However, it was not until recently that it finally arrived on iOS.

It is possible to download it completely free of charge in the App Store around the world. With it we will download an excellent emulator of dozens of dozens of video game consoles. Some stand out, such as those from Nintendo mentioned above, as well as the classics from SEGA, the first PlayStation or the legendary Atari arcade machines.

iMSX2, pure nostalgia even for those of us who did not live through the MSX years

I recognize that, despite my addiction to these emulators, it is not that I am an expert on the subject. Hence, I did not know IMSX2 until my colleague Isra Fdez. interviewed its creator, Enrique Enguix. And beyond the powerful story behind this Spanish developer, the truth is that IMSX2 is very good.

Like the previous one, it can be downloaded from the App Store for 1.99 euros. It is not that it is expensive, but if despite everything you are reluctant to pay, in my opinion I will tell you that it is very worth it for emulate classic MSX games. Because yes, RetroArch already does it, but the IMSX2 interface in this sense seems much more attractive to me.
