An explosion that occurred this Tuesday morning in the Tlalpan mayor’s office caused the death of one person and left five other people injured, as well as the destruction of a house and six others that were damaged. According to official reports, The injured are out of danger after receiving the corresponding medical attention.

According to the mayor’s office, this Tuesday at eight in the morning agents of the demarcation approached a residential house located in Francisco I Madero and Ignacio Ramírez, in the neighborhood of Ampliación Miguel Hidalgo 3rd Section, after an explosion that was due, they explained the authorities, to the accumulation of gas.

As a result of this, eight people were injured, which later dropped to five, and the death of a woman as a result of burns suffered on her body. At the same time, ten dogs were rescued and a collapsed house and six other nearby houses with damage were recorded. Likewise, the mayor’s office stated that it reviewed more than 200 homes and announced that it will activate the Tlalpan Contigo Program “so that those affected can access financial aid and can repair the damage generated by the shock wave of the explosion.”

In addition, it was reported that the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office will carry out “the corresponding expert opinion” to determine the causes of the explosion, which would be linked to the accumulation of gas. This Tuesday, agents from the General Directorate of Urban Services approached the area to remove the debris as well as the Directorate of Citizen Participation to care for the injured people.
