NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to push Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal towards ‘slow death’ inside Tihar jail by denying him access to insulin and consultations with his doctor.

“I want to say with full responsibility that a conspiracy is underway for the slow death of Kejriwal,” party spokesperson and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

Citing the blood sugar readings of Kejriwal, Bharadwaj also came down heavily on Tihar administration, BJP, Center and Delhi LG for allegedly denying insulin to Kejriwal and said the Delhi Chief Minister was suffering from diabetes for the last 20-22 years.

Bharadwaj said that the Delhi CM was allowed by the court to use a machine in the jail to monitor his daily blood sugar levels.

“Overall, it was a conspiracy to finish Kejriwal so his multiple organ damage and when he comes out of jail after 2-4 months he goes for treatment of kidney, heart and other organs,” Delhi health minister added.

The development comes a day after Kejriwal’s council senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi said that the jailed CM has been provided insulin to control his blood sugar level since his arrest, ending it ‘shocking’ and ‘alarming.’

Previously, the Enforcement Directorate had claimed that Arvind Kejriwal, despite having type 2 diabetes, was purposefully eating food with high sugar intake like mangoes and sweets everyday to create grounds for a medical bail or shift to a hospital.

However, Arvind Kejriwal refuted the central agency’s claim in the court and asserted that the food he consumed was in conformity with the diet chart prepared by his doctor.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
