LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Firefighters put out two fires in Wilderness Park on Monday afternoon.

The fires were reported just before 2 p.m.

One was on the north end of the park, on First Street near Van Dorn Street.

The other was on the south side, near First Street and Old Cheney Road.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue spokesperson MJ Lierman said the fires were accidental, but the cause is unknown.

At the time the fires broke out, wind gusts in Lincoln topped 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The wind also posed a challenge for firefighters Monday as they extinguished a blaze at a north Lincoln auto dealership.
