MEMPHIS, Tenn. -It happened again.

Thieves eleven more broke into several vehicles at fire stations.

FOX13 told you last week first responders at Firehouse 55 in South Memphis were victimized.

This time a firehouse in the 4000 block of East Raines Road was hit over the weekend.

“Leaving the car with the windows down. Definitely unlocked. Just saying ‘hey there’s nothing in it. You will find nothing,” said Todd Conklin, Memphis Fire Fighters Association Vice President.

That is the reality of Memphis fire fighters and EMT’s lately. Firehouses plagued by car break ins in their gated parking lot.

“They go into work. They put in their 24 hours often times on little to no sleep. Then the next day they got up to find their cars were broken into when they should be resting for their next shift,” said Conklin.

Police said in just the last few days it’s happened to at least 15 cars at two Memphis fire stations.

“They’re frustrated,” Conklin said.

This is not the first time first responders have dealt with this problem.

Back in 2021, city council approved $500,000 to beef up security in parking lots after multiple break-ins at fire stations.

“The city fortunately did put fences around in the parking lots of the engine houses. Bad part is those same people that are getting broken into very well may be saving the life of their friend family or whatever at that same moment,” said Conklin.

FOX13 reached out to Memphis Police for an update.

They have no suspects in custody and the investigation continues.
