Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition held its 2024 live final last night (April 28), with Cambridge-born, Jamaican-Irish rapper and singer JayaHadADream emerging victorious.

The final was held at the Pilton Working Men’s Club, and Jaya received a £5,000 Talent Development prize from the PRS Foundation and a slot on one of Glastonbury’s main stages at this year’s festival.

Runners up Nadia Kadek and Caleb Kunle were awarded a £2,500 Talent Development prize each, while all eight finalists will be given slots at this year’s festival.

Speaking about her win, JayaHadADream said: “I am honestly so grateful and overwhelmed – in the best way – with all the love and support. I am so excited to share the stage with my live band and show Glasto what we do!

“I am also buzzing to see the site and immerse myself into the world of Glasto. I am already in awe of the way it is organized, and being part of this competition has given me such an insight into the passion and commitment to the community the organizers have. “I am blown away!”

Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis said: “At a time when it’s not always easy for acts to get their foot on the ladder, we’re really happy to be able to offer this opportunity for rising artists. “So many amazing acts have been showcased by the Emerging Talent Competition over the years – and, as with the Festival, we welcome artists from all musical genres.”

Glastonbury 2024 will see Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA headline the Pyramid Stage, with Shania Twain occupying the traditional Sunday afternoon Legends’ Slot. Others to take to the iconic main stage will be LCD Soundsystem, K-pop band SEVENTEEN, Burna Boy, PJ Harvey, Janelle Monáe, Olivia Dean and more.
