Pipeline & Gas Expo, the leading European exhibition and conference dedicated to the crude oil and natural gas transportation and storage sector and water distribution networks, will return for its third edition from May 29 to 31, 2024 at the Piacenza Expo in Italy.
This year’s event promises significant growth from the successful second edition in 2022, which attracted more than 200 exhibitors and 5,000 qualified visitors despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.
Capitalizing on the industry’s renewed desire to interact face-to-face through highly specialized formats, event organizer Mediapoint & Exhibitions anticipates a considerable increase by 2024 in both the number of exhibitors and visitors.
Among the participants are companies specialized in project management, construction and maintenance of oil, gas and water pipelines, primary and secondary gas distribution networks and aqueduct networks.
Despite Italy’s proactive shift towards renewable energy, natural gas remains the largest contributor to the national electricity grid, accounting for approximately 50% of the total energy source mix in 2022.
Over the past decade, Italy has ramped up its adaptation to natural gas as a cleaner alternative to oil and coal, which has brought considerable implications for the country’s pipeline infrastructure.
As of 2022, Italy had put an extensive network of 11,000 kilometers of natural gas transportation pipelines into operation, with an additional 2,000 kilometers in the planning and installation stages.
These figures underline the fundamental role of the crude oil and natural gas transportation and storage sector and the opportunities that companies both Italian and from other parts of the world will find at Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024.
Trenchless technology takes center stage
A highlight of Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will be a special area dedicated to trenchless technology, organized in collaboration with IATT, the Italian Association for Trenchless Technology. This area will present the latest advances, particularly in directional drilling and pipeline alignment, to install, repair or rehabilitate pipelines in sensitive and challenging environments, such as beneath rivers, roads, highways and buildings. , in densely populated urban areas or in areas of ecological or historical importance.
Beyond its focus on trenchless technology, Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will continue to serve as a comprehensive platform for the entire supply chain of specialty transportation pipeline contractors, showcasing products related to pipe lifting and laying equipment, connectors , clamps and valves, pipe alignment equipment, welding equipment and materials; leak detection and non-destructive testing instruments, and compressors, storage tanks and gas treatment plants.
New cybersecurity exhibition for critical infrastructure
Recognizing the growing importance of cybersecurity to the industry, Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will host CYBSEC-EXPO, a new exhibition dedicated to showcasing solutions to protect critical infrastructure against cyber threats.
