A 15-year-old boy was killed in an accident last night along the Priority Bus Route.

The deceased has been identified as Alejandro Sookhoo of Glenside Gardens in Tunapuna.

The incident took place around 8:45pm near Mt Lambert.

Police were told Sookhoo was in a silver Nissan Note which was being driven by a 22-year-old female relative heading east along the bus route, when upon nearing Carib Brewery, the driver lost control of the car.

The car then slammed into a wall off the roadway.

Residents notified the police and emergency health services.

However, the vehicle caught fire before their arrival.

Residents sprang into action and extracted both the driver and the teenage victim.

Among those who provided assistance was a lieutenant of the T&T Defense Force.

The 22-year-old was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

She was bleeding from wounds to the head and chest.

Sookhoo, however, died at the scene.

Fire officers responded and were able to contain the blaze.

The body was viewed by a district medical officer who ordered its removal from the scene.

Officers from the St Joseph Police Station and the Emergency Response Patrol Unit responded.

The area was contained and officers recovered items of evidential value.

The driver is expected to be questioned today as police have been told that she suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
