Scott County baseball tuned up for a pivotal week of district games with a convincing 10-2 road win at Mason County on Friday evening.

Asher Harrington went the distance on the mound and reaped his team-leading fourth victory of the season for the Cardinals (14-10).

The senior scattered five hits over the seven-inning route. He struck out six and did not issue a walk. One of the two runs charged to Harrington was unearned.

After Mason County (10-11) answered SCs two first-inning runs with a pair in the bottom of the second, the Cards countered with three in the third.

They extended the lead to 8-2 with three runs in the fifth and tackled on two in the sixth.

Jay Wilson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and the lone repeat hitter for Scott County, which took advantage of six walks and a pair of errors by the Royals.

One of his hits was a double, and Wilson scored a run after all four of his plate appearances.

Luke Valencia and Sebastian Arden each added a single and two RBI. Arden’s sacrifice fly gave SC the lead for keeps in the top of the third. Tyler Robinson and AJ Wands rounded out the Cards’ supply of six hits. Robinson, Valencia and Wands each crossed the plate twice.

Scott County’s seeding in the 42nd District will be determined by its results in consecutive games this Tuesday through Thursday. SC travels to Bryan Station before hosting the rematch in that series. The swing wraps up with a trip to Henry Clay for the makeup of a prior rainout.

The Cards also take on Franklin County (Friday) and Ryle (Saturday) in the Dan Cummins Invitational Slugfest this weekend.
