Kolkata: A 23-year-old chef-cum-kitchen help from Beniapukur, who was working at a hotel on Park Street, was allegedly stabbed to death by his father in front of his mother and two other siblings after the victim got involved in an argument with his parents over alleged consumption of drugs and for “returning home late”. The victim, Roshan Thapa, had returned to his Dihi Sreerampur Road home around 8.30 pm on Tuesday after meeting his friends when his father stopped him from entering and demanded an explanation for his “addiction to drugs”. Roshan, the eldest of the three siblings, began to argue. “His father, Rakesh, cautioned him to behave. However, things turned worse when the duo began to push and shove each other. Suddenly, Rakesh rushed inside, came out with a house knife and began to stab his son, ”said an investigating officer.“ Roshan fell holding his chest. But his father continued to kick him on chest and stomach. Some neighbors rushed in. Even as we rushed him to CNCI Hospital, his father fled. Around 1 am on Wednesday, the doctors declared him dead,” claimed Asha Das, a neighbor. Accused Rakesh Thapa, himself an alcoholic, has been arrested, said Lalbazar. “Roshan received a stab injury by his father at his Dihi Sreerampur Road home over some family dispute. The accused was initially acquitted but was later arrested. No case was lodged by the family but we registered a suo motu case at the local police station,” said an additional CP.
