Each May 9 is celebrated on “Goku Day” worldwide, and Warner Channel and Max will join the commemoration with special programming of “Dragon Ball”. This is a special occasion dedicated to the legendary character created by Akira Toriyama.
Why is May 9th Goku Day?
The date of May 9 was established as the official day of celebrations for Goku throughout the world, because in Japanese the numbers 5 and 9 (equivalent to the date 5/9, that is, May 9 in Latin American countries) are pronounced phonetically as “go” and “ku”.
Although the celebration already existed on social networks, it was made official in 2015 by the Japan Anniversary Association, after receiving numerous requests from the public and TOEI Animation, the studio behind the successful anime.
Special programming of “Dragon Ball” on Max and Warner Channel
In Warner Channelyou will have the opportunity to enjoy the most emblematic and outstanding episodes of “Dragon Ball Z” for the whole day. In this series, Goku – after marrying Chi-Chi and having a son named Gohan – faces different enemies and challenges that threaten the peace of the earth.
On the other hand, in Max you will be able to enjoy “Dragon Ball Z KAI” and “Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters”, series that explore Goku’s life years after his triumph over Piccolo. While visiting Master Roshi, Goku and Gohan are attacked by a strange man who claims to be Goku’s brother. The man informs Goku that they are both from another planet.
After Goku rejects his request that everyone on Earth be eliminated, the stranger kidnaps Gohan. Goku and his friends must fight again to maintain peace in the universe.
