Pinecrest police seek ‘armed and dangerous’ man they say opened fire in neighborhood

PINECREST, Fla. – Authorities are searching for an “armed and dangerous” suspect who opened fire on another man in a quiet Pinecrest neighborhood, police said Tuesday.

It happened April 17 in the 8200 block of Southwest 128th Street. Police said the suspect, Jeffrey Chamorro, was supposed to have turned himself in, but he didn’t.

According to police, Chamorro, upset that his girlfriend had met a man, set that man up.

“He sets up our victim to show up at this quiet street here in Pinecrest on the 17th, and he’s just sitting in his car outside the street waiting for who he thinks is the female to show up, and our suspect pulls up next to him , fires five rounds through his vehicle into our victim’s vehicle, attempting to kill him,” Pinecrest police Chief Jason Cohen said.

Chamorro’s gunshots left multiple bullet holes in the victim’s car, but none of them hit the man he targeted, police said.

“He is extremely lucky,” Cohen said. “All five of those rounds went through the door into the cab of the vehicle, but not one of them hit him.”

Police warned members of the public not to approach Chamorro if they see him and instead call 911.
