The next gas bills will arrive from this month with strong increases: 500% for residential users and above 1,000% for businesses and industries.

The government of Javier Milei brought gas rates to near 2019 levels for high-income households.

In this framework, the Economy Department postponed for the moment the increases planned for May so as not to add more pressure on the middle class.

However, the Ministry of Energy postponed the implementation of a new, more restrictive scheme from April, then May, then June and now without a scheduled date.

The consulting firm Economía y Energía made an estimate of the bills that users will pay for their consumption starting in April according to the tables published by the National Gas Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS).

For residential users of the Nlevel 1, low income, there will be increases of around 343%. They paid $6,821 in May 2023 and in April they jumped to $30,207.

For users of the Level 2of average income, the jump will be 560%, since they went from paying $3,000 to $19,000.

For their part, N userslevel 3 will see an increase of 424%: from $4,891 to $25,629.

It should be noted that half of the country’s users have the “Cold Zone” benefit, so they have a 30% discount on their final rate and up to 50% in the case of collecting AUH, non-contributory pensions, etc. retirees and pensioners, social monotributists, electrodependents, among others.
