The former mayor of Bogotá Claudia López in a recent interview explained her reasons for abandoning ship and leaving the Green Party, with which she became the first authority in the country’s capital. López argued that she felt deep frustration after the Sneyderpolitics scandal.

Claudia López strongly criticized the guidelines taken by the National Government and President Gustavo Petro. “I have been watching this situation for a long time with great frustration and with the firm decision that Colombia receives clear signals. The disgusting handling that the Petro Government has done is terrible,” she said.

PARTY WITHOUT INDEPENDENCE

For the former mayor, the community lacks independence and a minority of militants would have hindered the party’s attempts to declare itself as an independent force.

“The green wave sector has been asking within the party for more than a year to declare independence, but it has been prevented, but now it is clear why. Because that minority sector of Petrism prevents control,” he expressed.

On the other hand, López stated bluntly “I arrived with Mockus and I am leaving with him. He ended up co-opted by a minority of PT members who are involved in corruption cases. “We continue to be the same citizens who work with the people.”

RESIGNATION OF ANTANAS MOCKUS

The current panorama of the Green Party and the two significant casualties that are in the news today, begins with the resignation of the former presidential candidate, former senator and former director of the community, who said in this regard “After analyzing the recent and scandalous national events and analyzing the complaints of corruption that the media has recorded in recent days, it is evident that many sectors in the Green Alliance have not incorporated the principles that gave rise to the formation of the community.”

Likewise, the politician expressed that the connection of members of that Party with the corruption scandal in the Risk Management Unit forces him to abandon militancy.

As will be remembered in the current INGRD scandal, the names of members of the Green Party such as former counselor Sandra Ortiz, and the president of the Senate, Iván Name, came to light, who have denied their participation in this network of corruption, despite the statements by former deputy director Sneyder Pinilla who points them out as recipients of millions of pesos from the entity.
