South Korean flagship carrier Korean Air has announced the launch of thrice-weekly direct flights between Incheon and Lisbon.

On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the airline will fly between Incheon International Airport – 50 kilometers outside of Seoul – and Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon.

The new schedule will initially run September 11 to October 25, although Korean Air says it plans to extend the route into the winter season.

Incheon is a key gateway for North Asia. The introduction of direct flights to Lisbon will streamline travel between the two places, eliminating the need for transfers in neighboring countries.

In addition to the new direct flights to Lisbon, the airline announced the resumption of thrice-weekly flights between Incheon and Zurich, Switzerland, last month and the introduction of a daily service between Incheon and Macau.

These additions mean the airline, which has a fleet of 165 aircraft, now serves 110 cities across 40 countries on five continents.
