Hunt for two men after train break-in and ‘deliberate’ fire-raising in Bo’ness

A hunt for two men has been launched after a train break-in and a deliberate fire-raising in Bo’ness.

Officers were alerted to reports of two train carriages being broken into around 7am at a railway yard on Union Street.

A small fire was also discovered and extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Police are looking to trace two men, the first of which is described as having a large build, and clean shaven.

He was seen wearing dark glasses, baseball cap, dark top and bottoms, dark New Balance trainers and was carrying a shoulder bag that was worn across his body.

The second man is described as white of a slim build, and clean shaven.

He was wearing a dark jacket, dark shoulder bag on one shoulder, dark hat with white writing, dark joggers, gray trainers and no gloves.

Both men are described as being between 5ft 8 and 6 ft tall as well as aged late twenties to early forties.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Inspector David Black said: “Our inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“The carriages are maintained by a team including many volunteers who work tirelessly to keep these carriages running and are a popular tourist attraction.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of ​​the railway yard, particularly around 2am, where it’s been reported two men were acting suspiciously in the area.”
