Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy accused of causing a crash in New Milford, Connecticut, last year that killed another teen.
The accident occurred on Route 7, in front of the Italia Mia restaurant, shortly before 2:30 pm on Friday, September 22.
Police said an Infiniti G35 was on Route 7 and a Hyundai Tucson was attempting to turn left toward the restaurant when the accident occurred, then the Infiniti collided with another car.
Julio Gomez, a 17-year-old passenger in the Infiniti, was taken to the hospital where he died, according to police. He was a senior in high school.
New Milford police said a 17-year-old boy was driving one of the vehicles at excessive speed and investigators determined his speed was the primary cause of the crash.
He has been charged with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, restraints on passengers 16/17 years old, and failure to wear a seat belt.
He appeared in court on Friday.
