The Minister of Government, Andrés Meiszner, reported that is preparing an appeal against the increase in gas rates, as the governor anticipated this Monday in Comodoro Rivadavia.

Although the national government announced that it left without effect the tariff update that it was going to apply in May, lUsers have already received invoices with increases applied in April, which led to very marked increases in invoices.

“We have worked on it at the direction of the governor with Dr. Giacomone, state prosecutor of the province and we are going to meet with the ombudsman, Dr. Claudia Bard. We are fundamentally analyzing legal procedural issues, but the political decision is to be on that issue and accompany citizens through the indiscriminate increase in the tariff schedule”, he reported in dialogue with News 2.0.

Meiszner recognized that it would be a model similar to that presented by the province of Santa Cruz, whose State Prosecutor’s Office made the presentation to roll back the increases from the month of April, demanding that they be applied rate changes in a “gradual and reasonable” manner, questioning the 800% jump applied.

In addition, he recalled that it will not be Chubut’s first claim towards the government of Javier Milei, since “we also did it with the transportation subsidies, or with the measure that we presented against the debt that the national government charges us, which “It claimed 145,000 million pesos as of December 2023.”

The minister said that from the government “we are working on several issues at the same time, but the results are visible, because today We have a super organized province from a financial point of view. We have paid the corresponding bonuses and salaries without any type of debt issuance, without placing letters as they had been doing consistently in the previous administration. “We did it with our own resources.”

“NATION REMOVED INTERNAL SUBSIDIES”

Regarding the transportation issue, Meiszner explained that “there is a new fact for us, which is a National resolution, from the end of March, in which the subsidy is eliminated in the interior of the country, but the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. We are also already finishing the presentation of the measure in the federal court in Rawson, but the governor’s political decision on the tariff issue is for the province to absorb this cut, so that the rate paid by users is as reasonable as possible. We have worked on this with UTA and the companies and we are one of the few provinces that has not had forceful measures in provincial transportation.”

In this context, he indicated that the province had to increase by 60% the contributions it had been making to support the ratesparticularly in interurban transportation, which is the one that depends on the provincial State as the granting power.

For urban transportation, which is concessioned by the municipalities, an important part of the subsidy that the Nation will no longer provide will have to be assumed by the municipalities, although in that case there is also a contribution from the province, but on a smaller scale.

The amount of the state contributions will also depend on how much is transferred to the user in the final price of the ticket, which is why Meiszner said that “the analysis has to be very fine in the numbers, so that the fare remains reasonable for the passenger. ”.
