“Together, with force, we are going to stop this huge rate”

Present at the signing were: Governor Gustavo Melella, the mayor of Río Grande, Martín Perez; the mayor of Tolhuin, Daniel Harrington; the mayor of Ushuaia, Walter Vuoto, deputies, senators, legislators, councilors; as well as representatives of associations, institutions, civil and social organizations; guilds and unions, sports clubs, industries and the community in general.

The mayor of Río Grande, Martín Perez, stated that “the increase in rates that our neighbors have received becomes truly unpayable and reflects, neither more nor less, the decision of the National Government to come down with all the force on those who are most they need it”.

“We are going to be there and accompany every initiative that arises to stop this decision of the National Government,” Perez remarked. And in this sense, he highlighted that “today we are here, with great strength, with the push we have from Río Grande, to stop this situation and fight this fight together.”

Likewise, Perez maintained that “from the Municipality we have presented a precautionary measure before the Justice that adds and gives strength to this joint claim that we are making together.”

Finally, the Mayor of Río Grande stressed that “we are a gas-producing province, we deserve the respect that corresponds to us from the National Government.”

For his part, Governor Gustavo Melella expressed that “today is a historic day in our province. This is a protection for all Fuegian men and women” and added that “beyond any ideological and/or political difference, today we are all together defending something that we are convinced harms us and greatly harms all Fuegian people and all “Fueguinas.”
