At least one woman was injured when an incident occurred this Thursday afternoon. burst followed by fire in the neighborhood Villa Ballester of the Buenos Aires district of San Martin.

According to Firefighters sources, the accident occurred when workers were working on patching works on that street and They accidentally punctured a gas master pipewhich produced a strong explosion and a fire which affected a two-story building with several apartments.
Volunteer Firefighters, Police and Civil Defense work at the site. A Metrogas crew also intervened, trying to repair the leak. After the explosion, the neighbors self-evacuated. Two people were injured and taken to the area hospital. Added to the problems suffered by neighbors was the escape of pets frightened by the explosion.

Sources from the Municipality of San Martín reported that work is being done to solve the problem and that the correct procedure is to dig wells and block the pipes so that the gas stops flowing. In this way the gas is vented and risks are avoided. Cutting the master key, they indicated, would be dangerous.
For its part, the gas distribution company in the area indicated that they have solved the problem caused by a backhoe shovel from a construction firm that accidentally broke a pipe in the network, with the consequent loss of fuel, explosion and fire.
