“The high gas rate is unacceptable, even more so since it is one of the producing provinces”

The legislator of Somos Fueguinos (SF), Jorge Lechman, participated this Thursday morning in the presentation of the Collective Amparo Appeal in rejection of the increase in the gas rate.

In this regard, he said that “We are a gas-producing province and gas is not a business for the neighbors, it is a necessity and something vital, so, in that sense, the governor (Gustavo Melella) will always find us side of the people in those claims that we believe are fair, as is the case of this Amparo Appeal.”

The collective action, promoted by the Fuegian president in order to definitively roll back the increase in the gas rate paid by the residents of the province; It was presented for the support of councilors, mayors, legislators, civil society organizations, unions and business chambers. Lechman stated, in this sense, that “the governor will always find us in the same democratic trench in defense of the rights of the Fuegian people and seeking the general well-being.”

He said that “It is very difficult to mix the political issue with the needs of the people. All of us who circumstantially have an institutional political responsibility must act seriously and address this claim, which is genuine. We Fuegians are dependent on an energy source such as gas. We cannot, for example, wake up like today in Ushuaia with four degrees below zero and there be families who do not have gas or cannot use it due to the excessive increases. It is unacceptable, even more so being a province that is one of the largest producers in the country.”

Finally, he reaffirmed the commitment to “work in defense of the rights of the Fuegians, who have been beaten for years and plunge us into a sea of uncertainty that we cannot allow or let pass.”
