The educational community of Secondary School No. 8 of La Plata, located at 48 between 9 and 10, held a “mantazo” this Friday to complain about the “lack of gas” in the institution.

It is worth remembering that Primary School No. 2, located around the corner, also carried out a day of protest on April 17 for the same reason.

In addition to the issue of heating, the problem of not having gas also affects the institution as it is an impediment to using the kitchen in which food is prepared.

This last establishment had manifested itself last February for the same situation, which to date is not resolved. At that time, they had also sent a letter to the president of the School Council, Ivan Maidanainforming him of the situation.

There, they pointed out that “last year, while the school was undergoing repairs, due to having been declared historical heritage of the city, on October 17, 2023, the company Camuzzi carried out an inspection visit, after which it decided to shut off the gas supply.”

From that moment on, the day was reduced to four hours “due to not being able to provide breakfast and lunch for the children”, and the authorities were asked “on several occasions” to send food in order to resume the full day.

After requesting to receive food, cold food began to arrive at the establishment, and they were able to reestablish the double school day. However, the problem of lack of gas continue and “work didn’t even start to solve the problem.”
